i wanna be a singer is it haram?

Hi I have a serious question every since i was a little girl (7 old
Years) and know iam 16 and i always wanted to become a singer most of my friends say that i have a great voice and i should try to go to American idol r somethin! n i get that a lot and I love singing its my passion i mean there are a lot of Muslim singers most of it are guys but I wonder is haram for ladies to become singers? I always wanted to know. This and if its haram why is haram?!!!
