Ramadan is almost here, only a month and a half away if not less!

I think it was two ramadans ago that i was listening to one of Amr khaled's lecture series which encouraged to take by the hand of one person and help them on one aspect of the deen.

Now here comes the question:

If there was one person you wanted to help, who would it be?? (as in a family member (sibling, parent etc.), an extended family member (cuz, aunt, uncle etc.), a family friend or a friend (close or not close).

And what would be the aspect of deen within him that you would like to help him change or develop for the better??

Assalamu Alaykom,

I would love to work on myself most of all because I have a lot of short comings, however ..

there is this one brother (a family friend of many years) who always starts to pray during Ramadan, then stops as soon as its over. Insha'Allah maybe this yr can be the year he starts and never stops...

He has a very good heart but it just needs some reigniting.

Assalam alaikum,

some of my siblings and friends are seasonal muslims! When it coems to ramadan mashallah the are amazing are prove they have the potential to improve in the religion.

so inshallah id like to help them keep motivated, and commited and at least become annual muslims intstead of seasonal. Although i still need to look into more strategies of how to go about that... hehe it reALly aint easy

Once again sis guidance intesting thread! Makes me think and reminds me of things that would have never crossed my mind. jazaki allahu kheiran

Brother AbdulQader made a very important point.

I think that before anyone can help anyone else they do need to help themselves first or atleast be prepared to make changes to themselves before going out and talking to others.

An idea, Maybe if the person you are talking to knows of your short comings then you can work on each problem together by motivating each other...

As for me I would love to encourage some of my family members who dont pray and dont observe Hijab, to start.

The sad thing is whenever I do approach them about it I am always fed with excuses.

Although i still need to look into more strategies of how to go about that...

Agreed....

Maybe we should share technique ideas ??

Very interesting topic Jazakallah sis

Yep, Ramadan is around the corner sobhanalah

Have any of you decided on a hand to take by this ramadan? nsha Allah i'll be having my focus on a particular school friend, and the method will be through the net, as well as during school discussions.

A very important point raised, jazak Allahu khair Br. AbdulQadr, is to first and foremost work on our own shortcomes or perhaps let Ramadan take the lead of keeping us steadfast on our obligations, and if we're already at it, then perhaps with our nawafel (voluntary acts of worship).

Overall, looking forward to it insha Allah :D
