Salamo 3aleikom :)
I have this issue on my computer. When i start it it works, then when i log on to my account its only the screensaver that can be seen, and a message come up and says that "wininet.dll could not be found" and that i should reinstall it on the computer.
Do anyone know what wininet.dll is and where it can be found/downloaded?
Jazakom Allah khairan :)

Salam bro is it only your account or all of the accounts?
Also you should be able to google search wininet.dll when you have it go to
My comp>C:/>Windows>system32 and then just drop it in there
Thats considering you can get in.

Salam,
^^ its all of the accounts.
I cant get in to the computer, so i have to put in wininet.dll in another way.
I tried to burn wininet.dll on a cd and try it on the computer but it didnt respond to it. I tried the same with a USB but with similar results.
Any ideas on how this could be fixed?
Wassalam.

Then if there is no other way, i guess you'll just have to format your comp. Do you have things on your comp that you urgently need?
May Allah give your computer shifa. ameen

Salamo 3aleikom y´all.
Ive been told that a sort of virus is causing this and that wininet.dll could be a part of it and that i shouldnt be installed.
As you said sis UP, it could be worked out from safemode inshallah, but i just need to find the right equipment (CD, connection to another comp etc).
Man, maybe i should have spent a little less time practicing soccer and instead sitting on my comp and learned these stuff loool :P Allah almosta3an.
If you guys have anything more to ad to this, feel free to share :)
Jazakoum Allaho khairan :)
Wassalam.

First of all.. do u have any virus protection ? If not get some. There are freeware programs out there that do a great job. AVG free is one of em.
Here are some suggested solutions....
Windows XP has the ability to protect itself from system instability caused by 3rd party software overwriting important system files. This used to be (and still is in fact), a problem with Windows 95 and Windows 98.
With the introduction of Windows Millennium Edition, Microsoft made a real effort to stop this from happening.
Now in Windows XP we have a much more refined protection of these important files....
This system is called:
Windows File Protection
By default, Windows File Protection is always enabled and allows Windows
digitally signed files to replace existing files safely. Currently, signed files are distributed
through:
# Windows Service Packs
# Hotfix distributions
# Operating system upgrades
# Windows Update
# Windows Device Manager
If you introduce a file replacement in any other way, Windows File protection will overwrite your file!
An important part of Windows File Protection is the command line utility:
System File Checker (sfc.exe)
You will often see references to scannow sfc in online newsgroups etc. This is a great tool for troubleshooting Windows XP problems.
How to use Scannow sfc...
The main reason for using this utility is when you suspect there may be a problem with a Windows XP system file.
Perhaps you get a dialog box appear informing you of a problem with a .dll file, or your program will just not load! It is therefore worth checking to see if there are any corrupt system files using scannow sfc.
To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:
sfc /scannow
This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.
The following should appear to give an indication of how long the process is taking.

In an ideal world that would be the end of the story... Any corrupt, missing or incorrect files would be replaced by this process.
However, things can go wrong and the following guide should help!
The #1 complaint with scannow sfc is the following dialog box appearing:
http://www.updatexp.com/image-files/scannow2.gif
Why does this happen?
Well, in your computer's registry, are several settings that are checked when you run scannow sfc.
As mentioned earlier in this article, the Windows File Protection service constantly monitors for any changes to the main system files. Well Windows XP
keeps a cache (copy) of these essential files at the following location:
C:WINDOWS\System32\Dllcache (assuming C: is your system root which it probably is.)
NB - The dllcache folder is extremely important so Windows XP hides it from you! To view it go to: My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > "uncheck" Hide protected operating system files.
If that's the case on your computer then there is normally no need for the original XP CD to be inserted as your computer has a "copy" it can get hold of in this cache...
But, if the Dllcache folder, or part of it, has become corrupted for some reason then you will be prompted for the XP CD - so your computer can get a clean copy!

If its a virus the file is usually replaced with wininet.dll_. Check this file if u can and if it appears as above then run ur AVg and see if it will remove it then replace the file while booted in safe mode.
This is from the things I been reading

asalaamu Alaykum, if that file is a system32, there very hard to recovery since its a system file, but best bet you should use your os cd and try using the recovering system, that why it will install any missing system 32 files, i remeber i done this to one of the brothers i know it fixed his issue...,
But can i ask, when this problem occurs can you even use the computer normal??? if you cannot access nothing, seems like a big issue and maybe format is the best option
