Assalamu alaykum
I want to know if there is a simple difference between the 'Athari madhab of aqeedah and the 'ashari/maturidi madhab of 'aqeedah? Other than the fact that the 'athari aqeedah is mainly hanbali orientated with most followers following this school of law and the ashari/maturidi is mainly shafii and hanafi.
Or are they simply all valid schools of aqeedah like the fiqh madhahib, where all of them are correct?
Should we know the differences and adhere to one of these branches?
jazakum allahu kheiran
