"The Prophet Muhammad (S) is like a spring of pure water in the heart of a desert, or like a source of light in the darkness enveloping the universe. Whoever appeals to this spring can take as much water as to quench his thirst and is purified of all his dirt or pollution, spiritual or intellectual, and illumined with the light of belief."-M. Fethullah Gulen.

on the outskert its pritty much allegance and oppesition so who a muslim and and cannot 'shake hands with' im not 100% on the details though

Al-Walaa' is associating oneself with all that pertains to Islam, eg. there's Al-walaa' with Allah, His Messenger and the Believers.
Al-Baraa' is disassociating yourself from the Kuffar and from Shirk.
I recommend you read what the scholars have said. There is a lot of misconception surrounding this concept.

{So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.} (3:139)
i dont understand it, i it a good thing or bad?
Religion is all about moral character; therefore, whoever beats you in character beats you in religion."
- Ibn Qaiyim rahimuhAllaah
"experience is a hard teacher, it gives you the test, then the lesson"
its nothing lol
its a concept and not something nessaccerly only linked to Islam though there is rules linked to it in Islam.
It is quite straightforward, really. An example of Al-Baraa' is not partaking in Kafir celebrations (eg. birthdays, new year's eve, christmas, etc).i dont understand it, i it a good thing or bad?
The rulings of Al-walaa' wal-baraa' are derived from the Qur'an and Sunnah.
You have a few Ayat in surat Al-Ma'idah about this {O you who believe, do not take the jews and christians as Awliya' (helpers, associates)...}
{So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.} (3:139)
So its about:
Knowing who your enemies are, and never siding with them
love for the believers and hatred towards the disbelievers (hatred because, we hate those who disbelieve in Allah swt and His oneness just as He swt does)
Having allegiance to the believers and its supporters and denouncing the disbelievers and their supporters.
So examples AGAINST include:
The scholars who mislead people, water down islam to suit the likes of the western governments.
Turning a brother in islam to the kuffar. etc

Btw, if anyone finds cool articles about walaa and baraa then do share them inshallah!
